Listen: Artifact – Drafty EP

After his seminal releases on Deadplate and Local Action, Artifact has gone on to create a firm place for himself in the UK dance music scene. In an unexpected move, he has self released this 4 track EP via his own BandCamp.

Artifact is without a doubt one of the more unique artists to have come out of the recent “Bass” scene in the UK, taking inspiration from a wealth of genres and never quite fitting comfortably into any of them. It’s something that has done the young artist very well and has lead to him creating a strong name for himself, along with his abilities on the decks. This 4 track EP has found it’s way to Artifact’s BandCamp as a result of not having released for a little while and feeling the need for some new Artifact bits to be doing the rounds. I would have to agree as it’s always nice to get your hands on some new bits from this young talent and these are actually some of his best bits so far.

The title track Drafty has actually been doing the rounds in the clubs for quite a while now, especially by the man himself, and it does serious damage to a dance floor. However it’s the more abstract tracks on the EP that really perk my interest, with Diplomats and Exist taking audible inspiration from the more experimental electronica producers like Jam City. Perhaps this is a new direction for the ever changing producer?

Listen to the EP below and graba copy via Artifact’s Bandcamp now.
