Homeware design company Kumeko have released their first venture into the luggage market with the foldable Omni bag.
Having only been founded last year, Kumeko is a very young company, but we’ve been keeping a close eye on them ever since we discovered their Snug chair and Knotty cushion. They have a habit of creating beautifully minimalistic items for the home that appeal to the inner child as much as the mature, design savvy adult side of you.
Here we see the brand create their first piece of luggage, using a stylistic and functional folding design that was inspired by two handcrafting techniques; origami and patchwork. Constructed from polygonal panels of PVC coated tarpaulin, the bags look as though they have been creased and folded to hold their unique shape. Although not actually folded, these durable bags have been designed with folding in mind, allowing you to change their shape and even fold them away for storage.
Making sure your every need is covered, Kumeko have created the Omni bag in four different sizes; Essentials, Shopping, Storage and Laundry. The bags come presented in brown paper and string with a recycled leather label case that can be re-purposed as a card holder (nice touch).
