Classic Material and Footpatrol come together for the second time (see the first collection here), creating this collection of t-shirts that again focuses on the iconic street style work of British photographer Normski.
Street style photography is something that with a little help from the internet has become a huge phenomenon in fashion and style. You could probably go as far as saying they are the professional selfies these days, but they had their moment back in the late ’80s and early ’90s with now esteemed photographers documenting life through other people. One of those photographers is Normski, the UK’s champion of street style photography of the era and Footpatrol and Classic Material have selected five of his best shots to adorn this collection of white tees.
Featuring De La Soul, Ice Cube, Guru, Dr. Dre and Eric B, the capsule collection runs as a small who’s who of Hip-Hop, all portrayed through in black & white through the lens of Normski. The collection is part of Chris Read and Nick Armitage’s Classic Material project that for the last three years has focused on the last 30+ years of recorded rap music. Launching with it’s own pop-up store on Berwick Street, the space will showcase the project for 3 days. This Thursday sees the launch party from 7-9pm with special guests Mr Thing and Matman on the decks and drinks from Celia Beer. The collection itself will be available as of the 16th from Footpatrol.
