Music Monday: August Week 4

So as we make our way into the last week of August we bring you another edition of Music Monday to give you an insight into our choice of listening for the week. This week we have been spinning the likes of Scuba, Active Child, Task Force and Mala.

Forgive us for putting this up on Tuesday rather than Monday, but yesterday was a bank holiday and we went to Carnival … what can we say.

01. Active Child – She Cut Me

“Active Child is one of my favourite artists at the moment, so it’s always a good week when he puts something new online. This is his latest song and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s sometime hard to remember that this is just one guy.” – Alex

02. Scuba – Reverse

“Scuba’s “Aesaunic” EP was a really important influence on me musically when it came out in 2009 and it still is now. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this EP and especially the way his tracks like this develop.” – Alex

03. Darq E Freaker feat. Danny Brown – Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine)

“Darq E is a badman. Danny Brown is a badman. This tune is too much and still gets regular playtime.” – Alex

04. The Thermals – The Howl Of The Wind

“The Thermals’ latest record ‘Desperate Ground’ has been my main go to album this past week. There’s a consistent sound throughout which is reminiscent of their earlier output. It’s lo-fi rawness and simplicity is where its charm lies and makes for an effortless listen.” – Chris

05. Dads – Dan’s Christopher Walken Impersonation

“Quirky, fun and their first UK tour is in November. Stoked.” – Thom

06. The Streets – Soldiers

“Having a bit of Mike Skinner moment, have no idea why – music mid life crisis maybe?” – Grizzle

07. Professor Green – Crying Game ft. The Streets

“The Streets moment continues…” – Grizzle

08. Task Force – JunkYard Music.

“Going back through all the MFTC albums, such a shame UK hip hop isn’t like this anymore. Farma G’s flow on this is incredible, 2nd verse fire.” – Grizzle

09. Sampha – Duel EP

“The whole thing. Sampha is so good. nothing else to say.” – Grizzle

10. Kidz In The Hall – Traffic

“These guys are dope. the beats are mental lyrics good. been a fan of these since they came out. chi town at its finest.” – Grizzle

11. Mala – Changes (Harmonimix)

“For some reason I’ve only just picked this up on wax. I usually would disregard anyone trying to fuck with one of Mala’s tunes but let’s face it James Blake is a bit talented. ” – Luke

12. Wonder – Chi Flute

“Here’s another one that I’ve only just picked up. Wonder is one of my favourite producers from the early grime scene. Chi Flute really sums up Wonder’s style.” – Luke
