Recently we swung by the adidas showrooms in London to see what will be hitting the shelves for Spring/Summer 2014. Have a look at some of the footwear highlights …
The return of the Stan Smith is a big story for adidas in 2014 and that goes well beyond the actual shoe; it signifies the push from vintage running to vintage tennis. It’s something that several of the big brands are predicting as the vintage running trend starts to wind down. Will vintage tennis be as big a success as vintage running has in the last few years? We doubt it will open as many new doors to new consumers, but it’s definitely a necessity to throw in some variation and a shift of focus, however I feel that vintage running won’t be going anywhere even if it does lose the top spot in the public eye.
Other key stories include the continued return of adidas’ much loved Equipment range, with the EQT Support being shown with the OG dark green Equipment colour that we all love. It’s been a little while since we last saw this shoes on the shelves, with the last release being in 2010 I’m sure that this will be a very welcome drop along side some other adidas Originals classic shown below.
On the tech side, the BOOST is looking good with a more tonal approach at long last. It’s something that nearly happened in the first year of the BOOST but someone somewhere wasn’t feeling the tonal approach, but thankfully they’ve come round to it for SS14. As for the more high end departments from adidas, there’s some gems amongst the Opening Ceremony and Y-3 collections, as well as a few surprise wins for the more adventurous in the Porsche Design and Tom Dixon collections.
Expect to hear more about most of these products as we approach release dates.
