FUCT SSDD AW13 ‘A Denial’

After a long await FUCT’s sister label FUCT SSDD becomes more accessible in the UK, with the brand’s notorious and premium garments now readily available.

Although the brand’s name (Same Shit Different Day) evokes a cynical stand point, the garments presented here conjure up pure optimism. FUCT SSDD builds on the spirit and essence of FUCT and turns the noise up to 11. It’s like FUCT is the solid state amp and FUCT SSDD is the tube amp. A focus on Americana and subversive ideas is one that Erik Brunetti and the FUCT gang have honed over 20 years and the SSDD line demonstrates that vision at its apex. Quality control is kept to a very high standard with the manufacturing of the garments taking place in Japan.

The collection’s title and theme takes from the song ending lyrics of Smells Like Teen Spirit. Grunge, Seattle, Washington, Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, Drugs, Suicide, A Denial. It’s rock ‘n’ roll as usual for FUCT SSDD. As always there’s a healthy amount of detail to decipher in this collection. Highlights include the Roll It Up stadium jacket, Deck jacket, Olympia corduroy jacket, matte black windbreaker and the Mohair cardigan and Kruger sweater go back to that early ’90s grunge look and get it so right.
