New app Depop mixes Instagram with eBay

Depop app launches in UK 1

A new app has landed in the UK, merging the visual and social elements of Instagram with the selling functionality of eBay and it’s set to change everything … introducing Depop.

Created by one of the co-founders of RETROSUPERFUTURE sunglasses, this Shoreditch based app is a great example of a simple idea that bridges two other great concepts into a new one. It looks like Instagram, has similar social aspects but you can sell you stuff through it like eBay, accepting PayPal for transactions.

To launch the service in the UK, Depop have brought onboard some of London’s best creatives including Katie Eary who is offering straight-off-the-catwalk originals, Beach London who are offering pieces of art and Goodhood who are doing what they do best. Wether or not this app will grow to be as big as the two that inspired it we don’t know, but there has definitely been a large spike in the trend of using Instagram to sell items, especially sneakers, in the last year so it wouldn’t surprise us if Depop became a hotbed for reselling.

Head over to the app store to download Depop for free and check it out yourself. More detailed info can be found at the Depop website.
