Entering it’s fourth year, Nike’s Black History Month collection pays tribute to the outstanding achievements of the brand’s endorsed athletes and their constant success and determination at the most competitive level. This years theme is based on the idea of ‘Sport Royalty.’
The collection honours the ‘kings and queens’ of sport: Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Allyson Felix, Maya Moore, Theotis Beasley and Ishod Wair. The product contained in the collection varies from performance to lifestyle, with 23 products available ranging from footwear to apparel. We take a look at the footwear here which focuses on many contemporary as well as older classic designs. Notable designs included are the Lebron XI, KD VI, Lunar Force 1 Lux, Dunk Low SB Premium, Melo 10 and Women’s AM 1’s and AJ 1’s. All are exclusively designed for the BHM 2014 collection and will no doubt conjure up interest from specialist collectors across the globe. Each year Nike bring a new colour palette and print to the BHM collection with a striking blend of purple, burgundy, gold, black, grey complimenting the new BHM 2014 print graphic.
Finally, one hundred percent of the collection’s net proceeds during the month of February will go to the new Nike Ever Higher Fund. Nike’s Ever Higher Fund aims to use the power of sport as a trajectory to maximise the potential of underserved youth across the USA. A notable sentiment and all for a great cause.
