London streetwear come menswear fashion label Clothsurgeon presents their SS14 lookbook titled ‘The Cultured Sportsman’.
Designer Rav Matharu has come a long way since his days at House of Billiam and his solo brand Clothsurgeon has been causing a storm with it’s luxury streetwear infused menswear. Sitting somewhere around the realms of the oversized shirting, leather and basketball inspired shorts styling that’s proving a huge success in American Hip-Hop currently, where Clothsurgeon really gets interesting is how they then mix in the UK streetwear inspirations such as the tracksuits as well as UK menswear inspirations and classic tailoring. Rav is truly putting all of himself into these designs and to great effect.
The lookbook itself is clean and sophisticated, presenting the brand in a more traditional mens hi-fashion aesthetic than previously, working fittingly with some looks and brilliantly juxtaposed for others. Rav Matharu has shared the inspirations behind the collection with us:
“The cultured Sportsman is the story of a young talented, well educated athlete who stumbles upon an incredible Paisley, Tapestry Fabric, thats dates back to the 18th Century. This inspires him to travel the world and excel at sports, whilst appreciating and grasping the culture of each place he visits. He returns and applies his learnings into creating a collection. From Nehru collars to classic Sports Blazer jackets, Irish Linens to Japanese Denim, referencing, and researching the history of the sports he played, and his new cultured knowledge.”
The SS14 collection from Clothsurgeon drops tomorrow and will be available from the Clothsurgeon website.
