A short while ago we previewed the forthcoming collaboration from END. and Saucony Originals on a burger-themed Shadow 5000. Today we get a closer look at the release, scheduled to drop in the coming weeks.
The burger theme uses each of the 5000’s panels and other elements in different ways to mirror the burger’s composition. Green and purplish red suede represent lettuce and red onion toppings, sandwiched between perforated tan nubuck and a gum sole signifying the burger bun. Dual branded insoles and a woven tongue label provide branding, with the signature gingham burger wrap replacing the traditional tissue paper inside a custom burger box. As a final touch, the wearer will be able to choose their own ‘topping’ from sets of additional laces packaged in corresponding, branded sauce sachets.
END. and Saucony have gone to a huge effort with this release, considering every element along the way – I can’t wait to see how the packaging and lace sets turn out. This certainly isn’t the most wearable colour combination, but the attention to detail make it one of the most interesting footwear releases in some time.
The END. x Saucony Shadow 5000 ‘Burger’ will go on sale at 6pm on Thursday May 1st, exclusively at the launch event at END’s Newcastle store. An online release will follow shortly after on Saturday May 3rd. Take a closer look below.
