As we push further to Summer, London’s urban culture festival Streetfest returns next weekend. We take a look at the lineup and what’s in store…
Now in it’s 7th year, Streetfest ventures away from Shoreditch this year to expand into a new 5550 square metre home in Hackney Wick with an epic view of the Olympic Stadium. As per usual, the event brings together music, art, dance, extreme sports, fashion and good old fashioned fun.
Music is split across a selection of stages at the event with the adidas Stage hosting the likes of Goldie, Ms Dynamite, True Tiger and DJ Woody. Elsewhere, the Unsigned London stage showcases emerging talent and is hosted by Music is Remedy, while this year introduces a new Plug In To Perform stage that showcases new electronic acts.
Art comes courtesy of over 30 international graffiti and street artists including Clog2, 2RISE, Rmer, Dank, DEP, Suzko, Brave1, Noir, Vodker, Artista, Hush, Zina and Tony Riff. As well as that, Secret Walls will be on site bringing their unique pen-based street art battle format to Streetfest. As well as showcasing art, Streetfest will have a selection of activities and workshops for people to get involved in art as well. Dance is curated by bSUPREME, bringing some of Europes finest b-boys and b-girls to battle live. There will also be live performances from Myself UK and Parkour Dance, again with activities and workshops encouraging people to get involved themselves. As well as all this, Red Bull are bringing a halfpipe to the party, with pro BMX riders and skaters competing on the day.
Alongside all the activities, music and showcases will be a huge array of food, fashion and arts in the TogetherTheyCome market. There’s actually too much stuff going on to even mention. We’ll be down there taking snaps throughout the day and documenting the festivities (while soaking up the sun), so make sure you say hello if you spot us.
Streefest 2014 takes place at Formans Fish Yard in Hackney Wick on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 4th from 1-11pm. For more information and to purchase your tickets in advance, head over to the Streetfest website.
