Video: Jamie xx – Sleep Sound

Jamie xx returns with another melodic dance song titled Sleep Sound, accompanied by this touching and beautiful music video by Sofia Mattioli.

Inspired by an occurrence while traveling on a train, artist Sofia Mattioli has created this music video that features deaf people of all ages dancing to what they imagine music to sound like. It’s emotionally moving and makes for one of the most visually beautiful music videos of late. A soft, hazy aesthetic helps with the dreamlike appeal to the video itself and fits well with how the song develops.

In her own words…

“I was on the train listening to music, when a girl who had been staring at me for a while handed me a note explaining that she was deaf and could almost feel the music by watching me. This moment came back to me as I listened to ‘Sleep Sound’ for the first time. I felt the desire of going deeper. It is with the gratitude that I found participation from The Manchester Deaf Centre, who believed they could feel the same way. I hope this is the beginning of a journey where love, imagination, silence and music join together to become a whole.”

Enjoy the video and be sure to learn more about The Manchester Deaf Centre and all their good work as well.
