Brighton-based team By The Level have partnered with Bristol’s 5 Pointz for a second time – following their HUF lookbook in June – producing a new shoot for German brand Beastin.
Though it hasn’t made a huge name for itself here yet, Beastin broke out into the UK last year with some excellent pieces, particularly in their Black Roses range. For Summer 2014, Beastin present a much brighter collection (rightly so), with an icey blue theme that runs across T-shirts, tanks, fleece, shirts and headwear.
The brand’s ‘Le Beast’ text graphic returns as a box logo on tees and a grey pullover hood as well as in Chenille style lettering on a cobalt blue hood with a similar vibe to BWGH. Text placement on the two tank tops give the pieces a basketball-jersey feel which helps to bring in some of the US sports and hip-hop inspirations that the brand are often associated with and a pack of stonewashed goods that includes denim shorts, a longsleeve shirt, a snapback and a crewneck sweat adds a dose of 90’s flavour to the range.
By The Level shot in Kentish Town London with their friend Lewis on modelling duties. The area’s brick and panelled concrete walls offer a solid back drop that lets the collection’s lighter colours pop and a little layering and a wire fence help bring the basketball connection to life.
Having not taken a huge interest in Beastin before, I’m pretty impressed with this season’s offering. The collection is one of matured streetwear – still graphic based, but with some very wearable pieces that can easily be dressed up. Check out the shoot below and browse the full range at 5 Pointz.
