To celebrate the launch of the adidas Originals London flagship we’re giving away 1 pair of these mi ZX Flux that we designed.
Our brief was to create a mi ZX Flux that symbolised our London neighbourhood. After a few days of thinking we settled on the idea of focusing on one of our favourite visual features of Shoreditch and East London aka our neighbourhood, the green tiles found on the outside of certain buildings. Time for a history lesson …
The green tiles on the outside of buildings in East London were originally used to identify pubs run by the Truman Brewery, making it easy for locals and tourists alike to spot one of their drinking establishments. At the time, the Truman Brewery was actually the largest brewery in the world, running its operations from Brick Lane on the site that is now known as The Old Truman Brewery. Many of these green locations have since become stores and cafés, conveniently a few of them house some of our favourite East London spots and this image is a photograph of a single tile on the outside of Labour and Wait on Redchurch Street. Personally, I think it looks as good on a shoe as it does on a wall.
adidas Originals will be making only 2 pairs of this very limited edition The Daily Street designed ZX Flux, one for us and one for one of you. To win that single pair, head over to Instagram and upload a photo that represents your London neighbourhood, tagging it with #originalslondon and tagging in both @thedailystreet and @adidasuk. We’ll pick a winner on Saturday 16th August, the day the store opens to the public.
