Skateboarding is in and there are lots of brands committing themselves to making a mark on the scene. Creating an aesthetic and communicating a view point as a brand is more important than ever, and can take years of building. Keith Hufnagel has created his impression on the skateboarding and streetwear scene through his career as a professional skateboarder and through his own imprint, HUF. Progressing their take on a familiar West Coast skateboarding fashion style, HUF’s collection for AW14 continues the brand’s solid output.
The collection feels familiar and HUF have been here before, but there’s also a refined and focussed execution on key pieces. The collection is appealing in its simplicity, indicative of classic skateboarding wear with hoodies, chinos, beanies and snapbacks displayed here. HUF lets the materials, fit and colours breath easy here by not going particularly crazy with the branding and graphics. HUF also continues its footwear line, which again blends the practical needs of skateboarders and an aesthetic that is relevant to the collection.
