WTAPS AW14 ‘Youthful Dayz’

Now entering their 29th season, WTAPS present the duly awaited AW14 collection entitled ‘Youthful Dayz.’

As always, the collection follows the WTAPS’ ethos of ‘Placing things where they should be’ and informs all of the pieces created here. There’s an eclectic and clever blend of military and Americana influences, re-appropriated through the creative lens of brand owner Tetsu Nishiyama and his rigorous attention to detail. There’s a healthy dose of t-shirt designs available, with previous favourites such as the Heraldry, Cross Bone and Desert Storm part of the deal. It’s a similar case with the shirting, which is complimented by outerwear in the form of MA-1 jackets and a selection of accessories with backpacks, socks, wallets, the 01 beanies and a ball cap – the result of a collaboration with Ebbets Field Flannels.

Although ‘Youthful Dayz’ isn’t communicated directly through corny graphics and imagery here, the youthful spirit continues to play a huge part in the WTAPS’ philosophy and creative output. The collection isn’t too contemplative and sentimental though, but rather you get the impression that for Tetsu Nishiyama and the team it’s about harnessing the energy and spirit of youth into these classic designs.

Available from END. now.
