Late at Tate Britain by Rinse ft. a number of names*

Late at Tate

This Friday, the Tate Britain will be taken over by Rinse FM and a number of names* to celebrate their impressive 20 years of broadcasting. With enough connections between them to bring something truly memorable to the halls of the historic location, it’s safe to say that if you’re not making your way down, you’ll miss out.

On the performance side of things, Koreless and SOPHIE will be supplying the noise with a host of graphic designers pairing the visuals. ANON have also brought in Rezzett for a live performance to recreate the visually paralysing Cav Empt collection showcase from Tokyo Fashion Week.

If you venture away from the music in search of something a little more informative; Nasir Mazhar, Katie Eary , Venus X, DJ Spoony, Ben UFO and Rollo Jackson will be discussing the trends that have shaped the past 20 years of fashion and it’s symbiotic relationship with music. The Rotunda will become home to a photographic instillation in the form of a panorama shot by Shaun Bloodworth from the rooftop in Tower Hamlets where Rinse started.

In the Auditorium; Krust, MJ Cole and Mumdance will each be breaking down a pivotal track from their back catalogues and giving a masterclass on their relationship with production. They’ll be touching on the technology and cultural aspects that went into crafting their sound and you’ll gain an insight into the minds behind the music. This is a first come first served situation though, so if this is something you want to be in on, get there early.

The Clore Studio will house ‘ROOM’ an immersive experience where one audience member will become the player in a completely improvised story for 15 minutes. Other than the fact that it’s apparently inspired by the literary based computer games of our youth, I’m not entirely sure what else to say about it. We’ll have to wait and see.

In an effort to not sound too much like an overly long events promo (although I’m already way beyond that point) I’ll wrap it up with the fact that there will also be an exclusive screening of ‘Style Brokers’, a documentary focusing on the rise of Duffer St. George and a live fashion studio taking inspiration from the works of Marlow Moss.

Turn up. It’s free.
