Nike present a new spin on their iconic Air Max 1 with these Ultra Moire renditions in both men’s and women’s sizes.
Nike may be a bit ashamed of the Zoom Moire that debuted in 2006 for whatever reasons they want (It didn’t do as well as they’d hoped. It wasn’t a technological success), but it’s still one of their finest of the 2000s without a doubt and it introduced in-shoe Nike+ adaptors to the world. We need Nike Zoom Moire OG reissues, but that’s another story. Thankfully, Nike do love a bit of that Moire perforated upper when it comes to their remixes.
Here we see the Air Max 1 get an Ultra Moire update. It’s not the same as the Moire update that the Air Max 90 got back in 2009, and arguably not as stylish (not that any of them beat the original Zoom Moire), but it’s a different thing. More technical looking. A seamless lightweight upper is complimented with 3M detailing to give the Moire look a modern update. Colourways are simple and bold, including an OG Red inspired colourway that will no doubt prove popular with the AM1 collectors. For me, the variations with the coloured midsole don’t work, but then again I rarely like a coloured midsole.
For the guys, you have a choice of black, navy, white or grey. For the girls, you have a choice of black, blue or sail.
The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire hits stores this Thursday morning including size? and retails at £105 for men and £97 for women.
