It was the Air Max 1 that changed how people approached the use of colour in running shoes back in 1987 (you can read about that in our interview with Tinker Hatfield, designer of the Air Max 1) and it was a change that brought on a long line of successors and a rich heritage for Nike. Here we see the Air Huarache get that classic Air Max 1 colourway treatment with a Sport Red, Varsity Blue and even a Dark Curry. Although it’s not yet being called the OG Air Max 1 Pack, this is without a doubt taking direct inspiration from those classic OG colourways and the much loved Curry Air Max 1.
It’s by no means the first time that Nike have recycled these colourways on other shoes and I doubt it will be the last (who remembers the OG AM1 inspired Pegasus 89s?) and it’s for good reason. It works so well.
This pack will be dropping in mid April with an RRP of £90 at The Chimp Store.
