London’s very own Azekel comes through with this video for ‘Mad About The Boy’, the first cut from his upcoming ‘Raw, Vol. 1′ EP.
This guy is absolutely killing it right now. Every track he’s put out to date has been memorable and Azekel seems only to continue his run of form. This is the first track from his upcoming EP ‘Raw, Vol. 1′, and marks a change in sound as he moves away from the neo-soul style for a garage-inspired beat. If you look at ‘Holy Matrimony‘, ‘New Romance‘ and ‘Chronophobia‘ alongside ‘Mad About The Boy’, you’ll find a rich mix of genres all delivered with impressive confidence.
This track in particular throbs and swells as his synths swirl about with the soulful vocal in the background. Alongside is Shanazz Dorsett, another Londoner, who offers a classy addition to the track and won me over enough to give some of her tracks a listen. The garage inspired beat works wonders, and reminds me to remind you that Azekel produces all of his own material. The well-shot video, however, leaves a little to be desired in terms of ingenuity, but it’s a minor blip in an otherwise fantastic run of form.
The 7 track EP ‘Raw, Vol. 1′ is out on July 12th via Thunderlighting Recordings and you can catch Azekel at Glastonbury too.
