Y-3 SS16 ‘3 STRIPES IN MOTION’ show

Menswear Spring/Summer 2016For SS16, Y-3 presents yet another bold and unique collection in collaboration with adidas. Exploring the idea of defining the human body in motion, this collection titled 3 Stripes in Motion sees Yohji Yamamoto continuing to pursue experimentation with ultra-light pieces and futuristic footwear designs.

The collection signals a return to the strong graphic simplicity and narrative of Yamamoto’s vision for Y-3. Using adidas’ three-stripe motif as a foundation for building around, the garments communicate a range of ideas such as fluidity, colour, graphics (including Yamamoto’s self portraits) and the distinctive signature black and white palette. The focus on motion and movement in this collection sees a variety of refined silhouettes worked with air meshes and delicate layers.

For the footwear, there looks to be further developments of two already well established designs: the adidas Boost and the Qasa. The Boost has obvious technical benefits with adidas’ performance cushioning complemented by new bold upper designs. New for this season is the Kyujo design, which is a silhouette that features technical knit fabrics and overlay panels of leather wrapping around the foot.

There’s exclusive pre-order available now over at Y-3.com, which includes the brand new all white Qasa High and the black funnel-necked Shacho’s poncho. The pre-order provides an opportunity for the customer to have access to future product, and is available for one week only. Items will arrive to customers by the end of July 2015.
