The power duo return to THE DAILY STREET. Rebecca Naen and Hayley McCarthy, working with makeup artist Holly Dale, take things to a whole new level in their latest shoot for us.
I don’t know what it is about this shoot specifically, the lighting, the makeup, the location, the editing, but somehow it feels like a level up. I swear it hasn’t been that long since we last worked with Rebecca Naen. It’s great to see Hayley McCarthy continuing to develop her styling, taking her now well-known relaxed sportswear aesthetic to a more mature destination in this shoot, especially in some of the looks towards the end, which for me are the strongest (other than that all-white number of course), yet not losing that golden ability to style sportswear in a casual fashion way.
The shoot itself seems to focus heavily on textures, with Rebecca opting to include a number of shots that don’t feature Soraya at all. It’s either urban minimalism or the chaotic patterns of tropical plants, both highlighted and contrasted nicely with the clean, bold aesthetics opted for by Hayley’s styling. As always in Rebecca’s work, light plays a large part in the creative direction of the shoot, not dominating it, but used with subtlety to add an element of delicacy where possible.
