KOMONO x René Magritte watch collection

Komono x Magritte - Winston - The Art Of Living & The Castle Of The Pyrenees

Brussels based brand KOMONO have collaborated with the estate of Surrealist artist René Magritte for a capsule collection of watches inspired by his artworks.

If for some reason you haven’t heard of René Magritte, you will undoubtedly be familiar with his art regardless. One of the few Surrealists to be situated outside of Paris, Magritte is beloved by his fellow Brussels locals, so much so that there is an entire Magritte museum in Brussels.

KOMONO have channeled some of their favourite works from the Magritte archives, and embodied both the works and his mindset into this capsule collection of watches. In all honesty, I feel the Surrealist mindset that made Magritte so special could have been pushed that bit further in this collaboration, but we do start to see it come into play nicely in the form of mirrored faces on a few of the watches.

Head over to KOMONO to check out the collection.

While we’re talking Magritte, refresh your memory (or get to know!) of that great film Toys from 1992 that featured Robin Williams and LL Cool J (oh yes) and took a lot of inspiration from Magritte’s work. Check the trailer here.
