Here we get a first look and listen at The Last Skeptik’s latest tune titled Lullaby featuring Jehst, taken from his current feature length body of work Thanks for Trying.
Thanks for Trying has only been out for a short while, but is already being hailed as Skeptik’s finest work to date. The album made of 99% beats (with exception to this tune) is out on the same label that brought us classic beat tapes from the likes of Pete Rock, Madlib and J Dilla (BBE Music) so expect to have your Hip Hop beat taste buds thoroughly satisfied here.
Judging from the above track, the production here is on new levels of head nodding splendidness and having Jehst on vocals really is the icing on the cake. If you plan to make a beat tape but have only one track to feature vocals, Jehst is the perfect choice – a no brainer and a choice that will please not only UK Hip Hop fans but Hip Hop fans in general. Billy Brimstone as a talent is second to none and sits fittingly within the beat that rolls through a militant almost march like rhythm; the drums knock hard and the sample choice keeps the ears perked up enough to hold interest throughout. As an instrumental alone this would be a class track, the vocals on top feel like a gift from Skeptik to his fans. hopefully this is not the last we will hear of the two working together … collabo album please gents.
The video itself (directed by Sonny Malhotra) is also unique as it features quite a few cameos from many a familiar face to the scene such as Stig of the Dump, Skrien, Rewd Adams and Micall Parknsun all contributing in the background whilst Jehst works through his lyrics up front.
Thanks for Trying is available right now on iTunes so feel free to check the rest of the album out, judging from the above we wont be disappointed. To keep up to date with The Last Skeptik you can check out his site here.
