PUMA Court Star 2014 preview

PUMA present a teaser of their 2014 Court Star re-issue as they get set to re-launch their vintage tennis line.

Bringing back a tennis classic from the ’80s is a strong move at the moment. Vintage tennis has been picked as the trend to follow vintage running and from where we’re standing, it’s looking like a winner. The PUMA Court Star debuted in the ’80s around the same time that PUMA signed a promising 17 year old by the name of Boris Becker, covering him from head to toe in the brand. This was back in an era when a lot of sports brands also made their own tennis rackets, including PUMA (as seen in some of these teaser images). Leather tennis shoes were all the rage back then and heralded as a technological achievement. Now, a leather shoe isn’t really the height of technology, but it makes for a beautiful lifestyle shoe when executed well like this.

As well as bringing back the Court Star, PUMA have dug through the archives and brought back their “A TOUCH OF CLASS” slogan in painstaking detail, with all original design in tact. A fitting colourway of soft white leather, an off-white midsole and gold detailing sees this classic re-enter the arena in style. We’re backing the vintage tennis trend and it’s great to see PUMA getting involved, especially considering their rich history in the sport.

The PUMA Court Star 2014 re-issue lands at size?, Offspring and END. on 4th July. Expect to see more very soon!
