BWGH co-founder David Obadia presents his new ready-to-wear fashion house Harmony with this debut collection for both men and women, “Définition”.
If you are familiar with BWGH then you already know that David Obadia has a good taste for style and simplicity in execution, so it should come as no surprise that this new brand Harmony follows similar aesthetic rules, promoting honesty, spontaneity, creativity, and quality in everything it does. Named Harmony to represent the balance sought after most minimalists, wether it’s a balance between colour and material or between style and comfort, the brand has an effortless chic that is rooted in David’s personal taste. In fact, the whole brand has been designed for himself and his fiancé…
“You might say it is egotistic but I first and foremost design collections for me and my fiancé. Simply beautiful collections I would wear and see her wear daily. I am glad if others like it.” – David Obadia
There’s some of that straight up honesty that David claims to be at the core of this new brand, and we like it. Luckily, both he and his fiancé have good style, so the rest of us can enjoy the collections also. With “Définition”, his aim was to create the foundations for a timeless and minimal wardrobe without being basic and the lookbook itself reflects that with its nonchalant approach. Once again David has turned to art for his inspiration, this time inspired by the paintings of Barnett Newman (you may remember him talking about his Mark Rothko inspirations for his PUMA x BWGH collections), applying it to American sportswear and traditional business suiting with a strong Parisian street fashion style. It’s a formula that allows the minimalism of the collection to shine strong, even when presented across what is essentially only 4 colours (if we were to count white as a colour).
It will be really interesting to watch this brand develop moving forwards. Keep up to date with Harmony via their Facebook and Instagram ahead of the brand’s launch in September with both an online and physical store in Paris as well as other stockists.
