After 7 years at it’s previous location, Goodhood have relocated to Curtain Road, scaling up both in size and presentation as well as the addition of a cafe. We take a look around the new store.
Technically, this isn’t the first time Goodhood have expanded, adding their Life Store on Coronet Street back in March 2013, almost bang opposite their original store. I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but it couldn’t feel like a better time for Goodhood to make this leap. It’s not that the precious store(s) were cramped or restricting them too much, it’s more that this new location better reflects the scale and perception of the Goodhood brand. We’re happy to see a true hero of the UK independent store scene continue to go from strength to strength with style.
It’s worth noting that the entire shop fit was done in-house, with the Goodhood Creative design team conjuring up the aesthetic and design of the store. It goes as far as one half of the Goodhood co-founding partners, Jo Sindle, hand making the luminous sign you are welcomed by on entry at the top of the stairs (literally from design to finished product). It’s this meticulous attention to detail teamed with the family vibe at Goodhood that makes the place so special and so beloved by the community. Oh, and their fantastic curation of course.
Enough compliments. If for some reason you haven’t been able to check out the store in person yet, or the newly opened cafe Commune at Goodhood, here’s a look. Make sure you swing by when you’re next in Shoreditch.
