Nike have announced that they will be rejuvenating the much loved ACG brand this December.
So far, that’s as much as we know, other than the fact that the relaunch will be happening on December 18th. Nike are encouraging people to follow @nikelab for more info, so it looks like the ACG brand will sit on the more premium side of Nike’s current offerings (as it should do). Also, it’s worth noting how the above teaser video pitches the brand, set in a futuristic city environment, not the great outdoors. It’s clear that the target market this time around is the city dweller, not the traditional outdoor adventurer.
Although ACG was retired a few years back, Nike never seemed to be able to truly let go of it, with a few ACG branded releases hitting shelves of the lifestyle market. However, it’s not been ACG in the way we know and love ACG. I’m happy to say that one of ACG’s biggest admirers, Gary Warnett, has been involved in bringing back this brand. On what level, we can’t confirm, but as long as Nike are using people like that to help guide this return then we should see a triumphant return of ACG in full glory.
