Having completed almost 90% of the new tunnels, Crossrail have released these epic photos showing the tunnels underneath London being constructed.
Set to be completed in 2018, Crossrail will serve 40 stations and run through central London, hopefully removing commuters from the London Underground network as it essentially serves all of the main London train stations. In these stunning photos, we see what it’s like to work on the construction of a project this vast and unique. Having created the underground railway network concept back in 1863, we should have pride in our Underground network, however outdated parts of it are now. As much as we love(hate) it, it definitely needs an extension to relieve some of the vast amounts of human traffic that pass through it every day (24 million journeys to be exact). Here’s to hoping that these epic tunnels will relieve a lot of that.
In the meantime, enjoy these stunning shots of life underneath London. Find out more about Crossrail at the official website.
